Healing the Body from Trauma
a workshop with Moriah Ella Mason, L.M.T
can be stored in the body
When a person experiences a threat to their body that they can’t escape, they can store that memory differently, as trauma. Unprocessed trauma can lead to symptoms throughout the nervous system and body, such as hypervigilance, chronic pain, autoimmune disease, digestive problems, difficulty sleeping or concentrating.
This workshop gives people body-based tools to self-care
In this two-hour workshop, participants will:
~Learn about the physiology of trauma and PTSD through lecture and discussion
~Develop bodily awareness through guided meditation and exercises
~Practice techniques of self-massage and acupressure to help relieve anxiety and other symptoms
~Create aromatherapy inhalers to help with meditation, sleep training, and increased focus during study
Participants take home:
• Notes summarizing the lecture
• Diagrams of massage techniques learned
• Audio of the guided meditation we practice
• Aromatherapy in a personalized inhaler
Sunday March 24th from 1:00-3:00 pm
Cost: $20 per person, Pre-registration is strongly encouraged. Drop-ins will be admitted as space allows.
